Yaya Toure wins third successive CAF African Footballer of the Year

Cote d’Ivoire international, Yaya Toure, yesterday (Thursday, 9 January) won the African Footballer of the Year Award for the third consecutive time.

Toure saw off competition from former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and current Chelsea player John Obi Mikel to win the award.

"To be the winner today is unbelievable... I am very happy and very, very proud," the 30-year-old Toure said.

The former Barcelona midfielder has become a driving force at the heart of Manchester City's midfield since he moved to England.
