ITU to stage African Digital Woman Award

With the aim of recognising and celebrating women who take the lead in the digital industry in Africa, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will launch a new award for African women in the digital industry at African ICT Days in Cameroon.

“I am delighted to serve as a patron of the new African Digital Woman of the Year award and congratulate the organisers for raising awareness among the African governments and girls themselves of the tremendous opportunities an ICT career can offer", Hamadoun Touré, ITU secretary general, said.

African ICT Days is an annual conference and debate centred around ICT as organised by the ICT4 Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

As part of the conference, workshops will be run on e-application, e-gamification, e-marketing, e-health, e-transportation, e-entrepreneurship, e-women, e-bigdata, e-business, e-learning and e-governance.

Nominations are open until November 5, building up to the event on November 16 in Yaoundé.
