P&G Receives African 1st Ladies Award For Excellence

Procter & Gamble (P&G), a leading consumer goods company, has been honoured with the African 1st ladies award for excellence in social investments in Africa at the summit held in Los Angeles last week.

The award which was conferred on the Vice President, Procter and Gamble West Africa Manoj Kumar by the first lady of Namibia, Mrs. Pohamba, is in recognition of Procter and Gamble’s commitment to growth and expansion plans in Africa are long-term.

At the African 1st ladies summit, Kumar made known that P&G has been on the African continent for more than 50 years and in Sub Sahara Africa for over 20 years, with manufacturing plants in Ibadan Nigeria and Johannesburg South Africa as well as offices in Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg.

P&G is dedicated to providing everyday basics that help create the experience of home and improve everyday health and confidence for people in need.

“P&G is very optimistic about Africa and its potential: 9 Sub-Saharan countries are among the 20 fastest growing economies in 2013. Sub-Saharan GDP is forecast to grow faster than Brazil and Russia between 2013 and 2020. P&G is accelerating its investment in Africa by      expanding our manufacturing platform and accelerating geographic expansion through our distribution partners – generating thousands of jobs across SSA and creating hundreds of new SMEs in the region. For example in Nigeria, P&G is expanding its operations with a new state of the art manufacturing plant being built in Ogun state, and just a few weeks back, P&G announced that it would be investing in the construction of a new manufacturing plant in South Africa,” he said.
