Calabar Rocks As 2011 Festive Carnival Begins


The multi-dimensional, multi-faceted tourism leisure and entertainment programme in West Africa, Calabar Festive Canival has commenced its 2011 event. The Paradise City is presently been stormed by dignitries all across the world.

This years festival commenced on Sunday 4th December with the Canaan Praise Night I followed by African Night on Tuesday 6th; Dance Jam is slated for Friday 9th and will feature Wacomzy, Nigga Raw, Solid Star and Harrisong as the artist of the day. Tiwa Savage, Goldie Harvey, Iban and De Adshas will perform on the Ladies Night Out on Saturday 10th; Canaan Praise Night II - Lara George, Deaconess, Nnanke Etta and Odems on Sunday 11th.

Other programmes slated for this year's event includes: Keeping It Real - Jesse Jags, Ice Prince, Naeto and Lynxx on Wednesday 14th; Reggae In Calabar - King Wadada, Nyore, Gen. Brown Bread and Kandy Sea on Friday 16th; Jazz and Soul In Paradise - Yemi Sax, Kunle Ayo, Eddy Isaacs and Moses Philips on Saturday 17th; Canaan Praise Night III - Stainless Group UK, Frank Edwards, Pastor Chychy Ayodele and Grace Jerry on Sunday 18th; Hyperactive - Darey, J.Martins, Ruggedman, Obiwon on Monday 19th.

Others events: Governor's Masked Fete themed 'old school' - The Sugar Brand, Temitayo and Bassey Ebong on Tuesday 20th; Carnival Calabar Queen Pageant on Friday 23th; Carnival Kings and Queens Contest on Sunday 25; Cultural Parade and Children's Carnival Party on Monday 26th; Carnival Calabar on Tuesday 27th; Calabar Rocks - P Square, Banky W, Wizkid and OJB Jezreel; Destiny's Child Centre Fashion Show on Thursday 29th and Naija's Most Wanted - Gytian, D'Prince, Wande Coal and Dr. Sid on Friday 30th December.

The festival is a 32 days event is an unprecedented yearly participation by close to a million people from all over the world. It is sponsored by Guinness VIP, Harp, Baileys, First Bank, Dangote, VLISCO, Mega Hilton among others has been a great economically benefit for the people of the state while the youths also have the opportunity to exhibit their capacity, resources and talent.
