The existing contract was revised before it finished to add the extension to June 2022 and improve the terms. Ziggo also took an option to extend the contract another two years.
As part of the deal, Ziggo will continue to have shirt branding across the Ajax 1, Jong Ajax and Ajax eSports teams.
Ziggo has been the main sponsor of Ajax for four-and-a-half years. According to Dutch news site NU.nl, Ziggo has paid €8m per year and up to €2m in bonuses per year since joining Ajax in January 2015, but its fixed contribution is expected to increase under the new deal.
To mark the new agreement, Ziggo launched a contest giving away tickets to all the home matches of Ajax this year. All customers of Ziggo and Vodafone will be entered into the contest to win tickets for the so-called ‘Golden Seats’, 2m from the pitch.
