Hill+Knowlton To Lead Communications For 2018 Olympic Games

Hill+Knowlton Strategies has been appointed as the official international PR and communications partner for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by the the PyeongChang Organizing Committee.

Following a competitive pitch, H+K won the 18-month remit to run a media and content communications campaign to promote PyeongChang globally, as well as providing strategic counsel on crisis and issues management and handling international media relations.

Lorna Campbell, H+K Asia-Pacific regional director for sports marketing and sponsorship, will lead the account. Vivian Lines, chairman of H+K Strategies APAC, said he was honored to win the contract, which is in keeping with the agency’s previous experience of handling communications for the organizing committees of the Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, and London 2012 Games.

"H+K has a deep understanding of the Olympic environment, cultures, and values, and we are delighted to add PyeongChang 2018 to our experience," he said. "We have a strong team in the region who will work closely with [the organizing committee] to help us connect with and inspire the world around the excitement of PyeongChang and the Winter Olympics."

"It is important to raise the international profile of PyeongChang 2018 to generate enthusiasm and positively represent the Olympic Games," said Yeo Hyung-koo, the organizing committee’s secretary general.
