SuperSport Secures Exclusive Broadcast Rights for AFCON 2025

SuperSport has clinched the broadcast rights for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) across Sub-Saharan Africa, just weeks before the continent’s biggest football tournament kicks off in Morocco.

The MultiChoice-owned sports network will exclusively air the tournament in English, French, and Portuguese, alongside select local African languages. This marks SuperSport as the only broadcaster offering multilingual coverage of AFCON 2025, ensuring fans across the region can experience the competition in their preferred language.

SuperSport will also launch a dedicated AFCON channel featuring in-depth analysis, multilingual commentary, and expert insights throughout the month-long tournament, which runs from 18 December to 18 January.

The announcement follows SuperSport’s partnership with New World TV as official broadcasters of the tournament. The network had previously secured a late deal to show the last edition of AFCON, continuing its commitment to delivering premium African football coverage.

SuperSport’s parent company, MultiChoice, was recently acquired by French media conglomerate Canal+ in a deal valued at 35 billion rand (approximately US$2.02 billion).

“Our newly formed merger with the MultiChoice Group has already unlocked opportunities and benefits for our customers,” said David Mignot, Canal+ Africa chief executive. “The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is a great demonstration of this ambition—bringing together our expertise to offer unprecedented coverage and bring fans closer to the game.”

CAF President Patrice Motsepe hailed the development, saying: “This is an important day for CAF and for African football. Millions of people will watch the matches on TV, celebrating the best that African football has to offer.”
