FBNQuest Merchant Bank Marks World Savings Day with Financial Literacy Drive at Kings’ College Lagos

FBNQuest Merchant Bank Limited has strengthened its push for a financially informed younger generation by taking its financial literacy outreach to Kings’ College Lagos on 19 November 2025. The session, organised to mark World Savings Day 2025, offered students practical guidance on financial independence, disciplined money management, and long-term wealth creation.

The initiative forms part of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) nationwide mandate to deepen financial enlightenment. It highlights the growing responsibility of financial institutions in nurturing a savings culture and promoting responsible financial behaviour among young Nigerians.

Speaking on the theme “Beyond Savings – Building Financial Resilience,” Afolabi Olorode, Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FBNQuest Merchant Bank Limited, stressed that financial literacy remains a cornerstone of sustainable economic empowerment. He encouraged students to adopt sound financial habits early in life. According to him, FBNQuest will continue to back programmes that equip young people with the skills required to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic advancement.

He further noted that the bank’s involvement in World Savings Day reflects its wider Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) agenda, which prioritises financial inclusion, literacy, and broad-based empowerment.

Students participated enthusiastically in the interactive session, asking questions on budgeting, managing allowances, and making informed financial choices—an indication of the increasing interest in financial education among the country’s youth.
