Huawei unveils intelligent transport vision and five new digital solutions at MWC Barcelona 2026

Huawei has presented a new vision for the future of global transportation, unveiling five digital solutions designed to accelerate the shift towards intelligent mobility and logistics at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2026.

At a forum titled Accelerate Transportation Digital Intelligence, the technology company brought together industry customers, partners and experts to explore emerging pathways for smart transportation. During the session, Huawei shared its latest technological developments and introduced a set of solutions aimed at advancing digital transformation across key transport sectors.

David Shi, Vice President of ICT Marketing and Solution Sales at Huawei, said the company is focused on collaboration and innovation to strengthen the digital foundations of transportation systems worldwide.

“Huawei is dedicated to openness, cooperation, and shared success. We will work with customers and partners to build a solid digital and intelligent foundation, connecting passenger, freight, business, revenue, and information flows,” Shi said.

According to him, Huawei plans to integrate artificial intelligence across rail, road, logistics, aviation and port operations to improve safety and operational efficiency while strengthening connections with industries such as tourism, energy and trade.

PhD Reha Çetin, Chief Information Officer of Istanbul Grand Airport and Chief Executive of IST Systems, noted that Istanbul Airport, currently Europe’s fastest-growing aviation hub, will continue advancing its Airport 5.0 digital transformation programme.

He said the airport is working with Huawei’s digital technologies and ICT capabilities to deliver next-generation passenger experiences and smarter airport operations.

Zaiming Ren, Deputy General Manager of CRSC International, explained how the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) can improve train control efficiency, increase railway transport capacity and reduce lifecycle costs, helping modern rail networks operate more safely and effectively.

Artificial intelligence is expected to play a central role in the development of intelligent transportation systems. Carlos López Gutiérrez, Transportation Business Unit Director at SICE, highlighted the collaboration between his company and Huawei in applying AI and edge computing to multiple transport scenarios.

“SICE and Huawei are working to use AI and edge computing platforms to explore and support various transportation scenarios, greatly improving infrastructure connectivity and transportation system reliability,” he said.

Ports are also becoming a major focus of digital transformation in global logistics. Yang Rong, General Engineer of Tianjin Port Group, said the organisation has been integrating advanced technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and autonomous driving into port operations.

According to him, Tianjin Port has already implemented digital management across its operations and deployed an intelligent horizontal transportation system as part of its strategy to develop world-class smart ports.

Dr Rachad Nassar, Global Business and Strategic Partners Director of Huawei’s Smart Transportation Business Unit, said Huawei has developed a comprehensive digital foundation to support the transformation of the global transportation industry.

He explained that the company is combining intelligent sensing, connectivity, digital platforms and applications to deliver specialised solutions across several key transport environments.

For road transportation, Huawei introduced the Transportation Operations Coordination Centre solution, built on intelligent transportation systems to improve efficiency across multiple scenarios including integrated traffic monitoring, peak holiday travel management and multimodal logistics coordination.

In the railway sector, Huawei unveiled its Next-Generation Bearer Network for Operation and Dispatching solution. Designed to offer high reliability, greater bandwidth and low latency, the system supports operational communications while enabling rail networks to transition to digital and intelligent operations.

For customs authorities, Huawei announced a big data risk control solution developed with partners. The system integrates multiple data sources and uses advanced analytics to detect potential risks within seconds, addressing long-standing challenges such as incomplete data coverage and heavy reliance on manual processes.

In the port sector, Huawei introduced what it described as the industry’s first all-element scheduling agent powered by chain-of-thought technology. The system coordinates port operations including berth planning, distribution and transportation, reducing planning time from hours to minutes.

The company also showcased its intelligent horizontal transportation 2.0 solution, designed to manage mixed traffic between manual container trucks and intelligent guided vehicles. The system can schedule more than 300 vehicles simultaneously while significantly reducing manual intervention and improving cargo handling efficiency.

During the forum, Huawei and Surge also announced the commercial deployment of the world’s first 1.4 GHz 5G fixed wireless access network for railways. The project is expected to transform railway connectivity in Indonesia by enabling next-generation communications infrastructure and expanding nationwide network coverage.
