BYD Named Official Car Partner for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

BYD, a global leader in New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), has been confirmed as the Official Car Partner of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. The company will supply 90 fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to support transport and operations during the Games.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the UK’s largest sporting event of the year, will run from 23 July to 2 August. The event will bring together 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories to compete across 10 sports and six Para sports at four iconic city venues.

BYD’s fleet will provide seamless transportation for athletes, staff, and support crews across the Games’ eight-mile corridor, helping to ensure efficient operations while reducing carbon emissions.

At the announcement, Steve Beattie, Deputy Country Manager of BYD UK, and Jade Gallagher, Chief Operating Officer of Glasgow 2026, were joined by Glasgow native Katie Shanahan. Shanahan, who will represent Team Scotland in swimming, is among the athletes aiming for medals on home soil. BYD is also an Official Partner of Team Scotland for the Games.

BYD has become a major player in the UK’s electric vehicle market, achieving a 12.01% share of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles through 2025. The company leads the sector as the UK’s top New Energy Vehicle manufacturer, reflecting its global success.
