Clea, a stablecoin-powered cross-border payments platform supporting African businesses in global trade, has launched Vendor Payments, a new feature designed to simplify payments to international suppliers, vehicle auction platforms and shipping companies directly through its platform.
The latest addition comes as Clea continues to expand its services beyond cross-border payments. The company processed more than $20 million in transaction volume within six months of emerging from stealth in December 2025, reflecting growing adoption among African businesses seeking faster and more efficient international payment solutions.
Since its pilot launch, Vendor Payments has been adopted by more than 50 businesses, underscoring strong demand for a solution that simplifies supplier payments and supports the international growth ambitions of African enterprises.
The new capability allows customers to pay supported vendors, including vehicle auction platforms Copart and IAA, directly from their Clea accounts. Users can select a vendor, enter the relevant payment reference, such as a buyer number, lot number or invoice, and authorise the transaction. With preconfigured vendor information embedded within the platform, payments can be completed instantly. Clea said it plans to add more suppliers and payment destinations as the platform expands.
Vendor Payments represents another milestone in Clea’s evolution into a broader financial infrastructure platform, enabling businesses to fund, pay and manage international trade through a single ecosystem. By integrating supplier payments into the platform, the company aims to reduce operational complexity while providing businesses with more tools to manage cross-border transactions efficiently.
Commenting on the launch, Sheriff Adedokun, Founder and CEO of Clea, said: "African businesses are increasingly trading across borders, but managing international supplier payments remains unnecessarily fragmented. At Clea, we're building more than a payments platform; we're building the financial infrastructure businesses need to trade globally with confidence. Vendor Payments is another step in that journey, giving businesses a faster, simpler and more transparent way to pay trusted suppliers and trading partners while focusing on growing their operations."
Initially, Vendor Payments will be available to eligible verified Clea business customers and supports US dollar payments to selected suppliers in the United States. Customers can fund their Clea accounts in naira, access foreign currency through the platform and complete international payments within a single, streamlined process.
Looking ahead, Clea said it will continue expanding its product offering to simplify international trade for African businesses. The company noted that Vendor Payments provides the foundation for a broader global vendor network, allowing customers to discover supported suppliers, manage invoices, build trusted vendor relationships and automate recurring international payments through one integrated platform.
