BYD has become the Official Automotive Partner of Manchester City Football Club in a landmark agreement that brings together one of the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers and the reigning giants of English football.
The strategic partnership marks one of the most high-profile collaborations between a global new energy vehicle (NEV) brand and a Premier League club. It reflects a shared commitment to innovation, performance and sustainability, aligning Manchester City’s sporting excellence with BYD’s leadership in electric mobility and clean energy technology.
Under the multi-year deal, BYD will supply a range of BYD and DENZA vehicles to Manchester City. The company will also introduce its expertise in vehicle charging infrastructure and energy storage battery systems at the City Football Academy, the club’s state-of-the-art training complex used by the men’s, women’s and academy teams.
From today, BYD branding will appear on the training kit sleeve of the men’s first team, with the women’s first team to follow from next season. The brand will also feature prominently across the Etihad Stadium, including on the headrests in the dug-out area. In addition, a BYD vehicle will lead the Manchester City men’s first team bus into the stadium for Premier League and domestic cup fixtures.
The agreement forms part of BYD’s wider strategy to strengthen its presence in international football and boost global awareness of its electric vehicles and sustainable mobility technologies. The company previously served as an official sponsor of UEFA EURO 2024 and the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025.
BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li commented: “Manchester City stands for excellence, innovation and the courage to push beyond limits — values that are deeply rooted in BYD’s DNA. This partnership is about more than football or mobility; it is about inspiring people around the world through technology that excites, connects and drives a more sustainable future. When innovation meets passion, the impact is truly global.”
Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive Officer at City Football Group, said: “BYD are global leaders within their field. Leaders in delivering excellence through technology and innovation. Leaders with purpose, to make the world a better place. All values that Manchester City share. As a Club, we are driven by a commitment to excellence and a passion for innovation. We partner with industry leaders to create a more environmentally sustainable future, starting with our facilities.
“This is why we are so proud to be BYD’s chosen partner and commit to work together for a better and more sustainable future for the duration of this multi-year partnership.”
