MultiChoice Talent Factory Opens Applications for 2026 Film and TV Training Programme

Pan-African film and television training institution, the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), has opened applications for its 2026 intake, offering fully funded opportunities to aspiring African filmmakers and television professionals.

African graduates who aspire to careers as directors, filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers, and storytellers are invited to apply to the industry-leading network of MTF academies, which are designed to develop the next generation of creative talent across the continent.

Following its recent integration into CANAL+, MultiChoice has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering compelling African programming by investing in skills development for young creatives. Central to this vision is empowering Africans with world-class filmmaking, production, and storytelling expertise, enabling them to tell authentic African stories and amplify the continent’s voice on the global stage.

The 2026 intake will feature a comprehensive, fully accredited nine-month programme that blends theoretical instruction with hands-on industry experience. Delivered through a hybrid model, the course combines interactive online learning with intensive, in-person practical training.

MTF academies are strategically based in Kenya, Nigeria and Zambia, providing access to aspiring filmmakers from 14 African countries. The programme offers practical skills development, exposure to industry professionals, and access to valuable creative networks, equipping participants to thrive in a highly competitive entertainment industry.

Since its launch in 2018, MTF has trained 296 filmmakers and facilitated the production of more than 42 films by its graduates. During the programme, participants gain insight into both the creative and commercial aspects of filmmaking while learning from leading industry practitioners. Students are required to produce their own film projects, which are broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels, including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic and Africa Magic, as well as on the streaming platform Showmax.

Graduate outcomes remain strong, with many alumni securing roles within the MultiChoice ecosystem and contributing to major African film and television productions. The MTF accreditation has also enabled graduates to launch independent careers, with more than 50 production companies established by alumni to date.

MTF’s commitment to hyperlocal content continues to deliver international recognition. Graduates have earned nominations and awards at major platforms such as the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival, and the Women in Film Awards. Alumni also collaborate regularly with creatives in global markets, including the European Film Market and Durban FilmMart.

These accolades underscore the calibre of filmmakers produced by the programme, creatives capable of competing globally while telling authentic African stories. The skills and knowledge gained through MTF empower graduates to drive economic growth and enrich cultural expression within their communities.

“So why wait? Your next big opportunity is here. Apply now and start your journey!”

Applications for the 2026 intake close on 27 February 2026. For African creatives seeking a career in film and television, securing a place on the fully funded MultiChoice Talent Factory programme could be a defining step towards shaping the future of African entertainment.
