ReplyDeleteThe BT Sport Industry Awards show how much the sports industry had expanded beyond what happens on the pitch. ReplyDeleteRichard Scudamore receiving Sports Businessman of the Year was particularly notable, following the Premier League’s record TV rights deals and the renewal of its Barclays sponsorship. While looking through sports-related information, I also came across 10bet, a sports betting website covering football and other sports, with different betting markets available for fans following competitions.
Other notable winners included Channel 4 for its London 2012 Paralympics coverage, Professional Sports Group for its management of Tom Daley and Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile as Sports Event of the Year. The awards therefore reflected the growing importance of the business, media and commercial side of modern sport.
