NITDA Boss Bags NiRA Special Recognition Award

Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), the Director General and Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO) of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Chief Information Officer of Nigeria, has been conferred with a 'Special Recognition Award' by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA).

Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) is a non governmental organisation with the responsibilities of managing the .ng country code Top Level Domain. NiRA oversees the top level domain name dot ng. Registration of domain names are handled by NIRA certified registrars.

According to NiRA, Dr. Ibrahim was awarded for his contributions to information technology development in Nigeria.

Dr. Ibrahim was appointed as the Director-General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) by President Muhammadu Buhari in September 2016. He has steadily and meticulously positioning NITDA to its deserving status as the country’s regulatory body of the IT industry.

Among many other successes recorded under his leadership, NITDA through its subsidiary office – Office for Nigerian Content Development in ICT (ONC) – had transformed the local “Original Equipment Manufacturers” into a vibrant sector of the IT-industry from an abysmal performance in the purchase of 92,000 units of IT-equipment only by MDAs in 2015 to 350,000 units of IT facilities purchased by the MDAs in 2017.
