Will Uber Introduce Keke Napep in Nigeria?

It is a fact that transportation is a serious business. And many countries across Africa have embraced car hailing taxi such as Uber as solution for easy and affordable transportation.

So, Uber has quietly introduced the use of the 3-wheeled vehicle popularly referred to as Tuk Tuk in Mombasa. The service is known as uberPOA.

The vehicle which is known as Keke Napep or Keke Marwa in Nigeria remains a mains of transportation in major cities across the country.

According to Loic Amado, General Manager for Uber East Africa, “Tuk Tuks are a popular choice across Kenya. When we launched uberX two years ago, we knew that this city would surpass our expectations, we have managed to create hundreds of economic opportunities and we are excited to create even more with the roll-out of uberPOA,” said Amado.

With uberPOA, riders will still receive the same seamless door to door Uber experience riders are used to with Uber.

uberPOA was first introduced in Dar es Salaam in East Africa.

Considering the high level of traffic in major cities like Lagos, Uber may be considering Keke Napep as an option as well.
