LaPRIGA Awards: Brand Communicator Named PR Magazine Of The Year

Nigeria’s most consistent premium frontline all gloss brand and marketing communication magazine, Brand Communicator has been awarded the prestigious PR Magazine of the Year Award (Print) by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Lagos State chapter.



The award presentation took place at the annual Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA) night, which held at Four Point by Sheraton, Victoria Island, Lagos recently.

In a letter signed by the Chairman and General Secretary, Olusegun McMedal and Thelma Okoh respectively, the chapter wrote: “On behalf of the Executive Council of Lagos NIPR, we are very pleased to announce that the all gloss Brand Campaign magazine has been awarded the coveted LaPRIGA PR Magazine of the Year Award (Print).

“The award is the highest recognition of excellence in journalism. We acknowledge your publication’s commitment to upholding the highest professional standard in publishing and journalism that informs entertains and educates engaging minds, building relationships, transforming marketing decisions and impacting the future,” it said.

In his reaction, the Publisher of the magazine, Joshua Ajayi expressed his gratitude to Lagos NIPR for the award, stressing that the medium is further motivated to continue adding its quota to the development of the Public Relations industry in Nigeria.

He adds: “At Brand Communicator, we are passionate and dedicated to what we do. This award proves that we are in the right direction. This will spur us to do more.”

Other awardees for the evening include BHM which was named Agency of the Year and the Best Agency to Work in 2017, Red Media, Best Agency in use of new media and Best Agency to Work in 2017; BrandCrunch, PR Magazine of the Year (Online); Ayeni Adekunle, PR Practitioner Of The Year; Ikem Okuhu, PR Journalist of the year.
Other winners are Red Media which emerged as Best PR agency using new media; while TPT International clinched the award as Best PR agencies for PR practitioners to work in.

Other award categories include All time PR Achievement award which was won by The Quadrant Company; while Best PR Training Consultancy was won by Business Education Examination Council (BEEC), and so on.

Also, Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Group Managing Director of CMC Connect (Perception Managers) was honoured by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) with the ‘Bob Ogbuagu Leadership Award’ for positively impacting the Nigerian PR profession and inspiring younger practitioners.

Nkechi Ali-Balogun, FNIPR, the Principal Consultant, Chief Executive Officer of the NECCI   Limited and the Founder of NECCI Public Relations Roundtable was also conferred with the “Lifetime Achievement Award.

Inaugurated last year, the LaPRIGA award is poised to be the premier showcase that recognizes excellence in public relations practice in the Nigerian communications industry, celebrating practitioners and corporate winning projects via awards dinner to boost professionalism and more investment in the practice.

Not too long ago, Brand Communicator was honoured as First runners-up at the 2017 edition of Sustainability Enterprise and Responsibility Awards (SERAs Awards) for its consistent coverage and thorough reportage on Corporate Social Responsibility in Nigeria.

Presenting the certificate to Brand Communicator team, organiser of the SERAs Awards, Ken Egba said, “This is to recognise your work in the reportage of Corporate Social Responsibility. We also encourage you not to stop at that, keeping reporting CSR to the best of your knowledge.”
