LaPRIGA set to Celebrate Contributions of PR profession to Socio-economic Development

The Lagos State Chapter, the flagship branch of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is set to celebrate the contributions of public relations profession to the socio-economic development of the country and celebrate practitioners at the second Lagos PR Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA).



LaPRIGA is a high profile red bow-tie event, poised to be the premier showcase that recognizes excellence in public relations practice by individuals, corporate and public organisations to encourage professionalism and more investment in public relations practice.

Thisedition with the theme: Celebration of Success, will feature leading practitioners, honourees and stakeholders who will gather to rejoice atthe successes of the practice at the Civic Centre, Lagos on Thursday December 21, 2017.

Speaking on the event, the Chairman, Lagos NIPR, Olusegun McMedal, said, “PR consultancies, practitioners and journalists will be honoured with the LaPRIGAAwards in different categories ranging from Best Agencies to Work, Agency of the Year, PR Magazine of the Year (Print), PR Magazine of the Year (Online), PR Journalist of the Year, Rising PR Practitioner Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Best PR Training Consultancy, Best PR Company Using New Media and PR Practitioner of the Year”.

He added that, “Each of the nominee have played long-time leadership roles, serving as sources of inspiration in workplace and the industry,raising standards and helping to redefine and expand the roles of communicators in the socio-economic development in the country”.

At the inaugural edition, nine corporatesincluding Chevron Nigeria, MTN Nigeria,Promasidor, First Bank, GTBank, Nigerian Breweries, and Lafarge received the prestigious LaPRIGA award for their extraordinary acts of giving, sharing and loving which has made demonstrable difference in host communities and in the lives of specific persons. It also witnessed the launch of AutiConnect; a special advocacy project to increase awareness, acceptance, respect and support for people living with Autism Spectrum Disorders [ASD].

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is the umbrella body of professional Public Relations practitioners chartered to regulate as well as direct its development and the practice.The Institute concentrates on sharpening and growing practitioners’ skill-sets in strategic communication, Brand PR, social media, crisis management, digital PR, employee relations, CSR and media training through conferences, awards programs and workshops.
