Microsoft Takes On Mac, Google With Surface Laptop, Slim Windows

Microsoft is taking on Apple's Mac and Google's Chromebooks in its newly launched Surface Laptop powered by a Windows 10 S operating system.

The new Surface Laptop is the first Surface device without a detachable keyboard. It's a lightweight laptop that features a 13.5” PixelSense display, with 1080p resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio, and 3.4 million pixels. It features thinnest LCD touch module ever created. It comes in four different colors and 14.5 hours long battery life.

Surface Laptop powered by a Windows 10 S operating system were shown off at an education-focused Microsoft event in New York City, and will hit the market next month in an array of countries.

The Surface Laptop will start at $999, the same as the MacBook Air.

It’ll become available from June 15, with pre-orders starting from launch date, Tuesday, May 2.

  1. The lack of USB-C is a huge mistake and probably the only reason I'll stay away from this. If I spend over 1k on a laptop, I expect it to last at least 3 years. already most phones use USB-C, and in the next 2 years there will be much more. They really messed up. I disagree with Apple going full USB-C, but honestly this is just as bad.
