Toyota Partners with German Olympic Committee

The German Olympic Committee (DOSB) has entered into partnership with Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota.

As part of the agreement, the DOSB will be given hybrid Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Toyota Germany will hand over various hybrid vehicles from the Toyota and Lexus model range to the DOS

The partnership continues Toyota's considerable Olympic involvement. Having announced an agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in March 2015, the Japanese manufacturer joined The Olympic Partner (TOP) programme at the start of this year.

As part of that deal, Toyota will work alongside the IOC, as well as individual National Olympic Commitees (NOC), to provide sustainable vehicle and mobility solutions.

Tom Fux, president and chief executive of Toyota Deutschland, expressed his excitement over the new partnership, which he said reflects Toyota's commitment to the Olympic sustainability effort.

Tom Fux, President and chief executive of Toyota Deutschland GmbH, added: “We are now looking forward to becoming a national partner to the German Olympic Committee after the worldwide sponsorship. In keeping with the Olympic sustainability efforts, we are providing the association with a range of environmentally-friendly cars.”

Toyota’s primary aim of the partnership with IOC is to “truly embrace the spirit of the Games in its day-to-day business”. It also wants to help and support the global Olympic movement in the transport/Vehicle category.

Under the IOC’s management, the TOP programme supports NOCs and Organising Committees, helping towards the mission of ensuring that the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement are truly global.
