agrofood & plastplack Nigeria 2017: fairtrade announces official German and French Pavilions

After the great success of the second edition of agrofood & plastplack Nigeria 2016 the German trade fair specialists fairtrade announce its 3rd edition for 28 to 30 March 2017 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos. For the first time there will be an official German Pavilion with more than 20 German exhibitors. The French Pavilion is already in for the third time and once again presents a French Live Bakery.

Organized by the German trade fair specialists fairtrade (www.Fairtrade-Messe.de), agrofood & plastpack Nigeria 2017 will take place from 28 to 30 March 2017 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos. For the first time Germany will host an official German Pavilion at agrofood plastpack & Nigeria 2017 featuring more than 20 German technology leaders presenting their innovations on 500 square meters net exhibition.

The German Pavilion is presented by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry AUMA. Supported by VDMA-German Engineering Federation German exhibitors include among others ADM's Wild, AWILA, BBM, Bosch Packaging, DIOSNA, Döhler, Fritsch, GEA, Güntner, Ingredion, Inoex, IPT, Kautex, KHS, Kuhne, Leistritz, Mall + Herlan, Motan-Colortronic, Symrise, Vibrofloors, Werner & Pfleiderer and Windmöller & Hölscher.


VDMA again holds a Symposium on food and drink technology under the slogan “German Technology – Tailor made for foodstuff processing & packaging”. “This year again we will present the strengths of German engineering in Lagos”, says Martina Claus, Head of Market Development Africa, VDMA. “This event will give an excellent opportunity to meet leading manufacturers of machinery for the production and packaging of food and beverages.”

“For the third year, the French agrofood association adepta leads a delegation of French companies to agrofood & plastpack Nigeria, for instance AIT Ingrédients, IDENA, EUROGERM, JAC, PROLAC and VMI”, says Aude Roelly, Area Sales Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, adepta. “From farm to fork, companies specialized into equipment and know-how for agriculture, livestock, food processing and packaging offer their solutions to the Nigerian food industry. Highlight of the French Pavilion will once again be the live bakery, a great opportunity for Nigerian entrepreneurs to test the equipment and discuss their investment projects with specialists of the sector.”

agrofood & plastpack Nigeria 2017 is supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, adepta, Advantage Austria, AHK-Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, Business France, IOPN-Institute of Packaging Nigeria and the Nigerian-German Business Association.

According to VDMA Nigeria is the 2nd largest importer of food processing and packaging technology in Africa making up for 234 million Euro in 2015 whereas food trade with Nigeria is a 13.4 billion USD business as Nigerian food imports summed-up to 8.5 billion USD in 2014 and food exports for 4.9 billion USD (WTO). Imports of plastics in primary forms amounted to 1.6 billion US$ in 2014 (WTO) and imports of plastics machinery stood at 85 million Euro, imports of packaging technology at 126 million Euro in 2015 (VDMA).
