Huawei Opens $6m Innovation and Experience Center in Lagos

Chinese OEM company, Huawei has launched a US$6 million Innovation and Experience (I&E) centre in Lagos, Nigeria. The centre, the first in West Africa, is set up to be an experience centre where people can witness global best practice, exchange ideas, explore business solutions through innovation and also a platform to develop the ICT ecosystem.

According to the company, users of the facility will be able to exchange ideas, explore business solutions through innovation; it is also aimed developing the Nigerian ICT ecosystem. The Huawei Innovation and Experience Center occupies 500 square meters and was set up based on the concept of cloud. It allows users to access and share Huawei’s global resources.

Frank Li, the Managing Director of Huawei Nigeria, said the center is a demonstration of Huawei’s dedication to investment of industry innovation driven by both customer needs and new technologies.

“Huawei will continuously adhere to its strategic focus, investment, and the relentless pursuit of strategic breakthrough to face all challenges together with its partners,” Li said at the official opening ceremony.

According to the company, the center will be a training platform where ICT talents will be nurtured. To achieve this, the company has signed a joint Innovation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Lagos.
