Paris 2024 takes flight with Air France

The official logo of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games bid is set to adorn the body of Air France jets serving up to 10,000 flights across the globe for the next 14 months after an official supplier agreement was announced Tuesday.

Air France has pledged support for the Paris 2024 campaign, also agreeing to run a marketing campaign to endorse the values and culture of French sport and to provide promotions in in-flight magazines and in airport lounges worldwide.

The Paris 2024 logo will appear on various Air France scheduled flights including long-haul Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 flights to Asia, the Americas, Africa and Oceania and medium-haul A320 Airbus flights to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The announcement comes as labour disputes have been impacting air travel across France during the nation’s hosting of the European Football Championships.  Air France announced that all flights would occur as scheduled during the period but warned of “delays and disruptions.”

Paris 2024 Co-Chairman Bernard Lapasset, said in a statement “millions of international tourists visit Paris each year and we are very proud of our status as a global travel destination that has great cultural, artistic and sporting appeal.”

“We are delighted to have the backing of such a prestigious company and I would like to thank Air France for their dedicated support.

CEO of Air France, Frédéric Gagey said “Air France is proud to offer its support to the Paris 2024 bid and it is an honour to be the official airline carrier of the bid and Team France.”

“As an international leader in the airline industry we feel the principles of the Paris 2024 bid mirror our own aspirational values and we are looking forward to promoting the bid through our international network and global hubs.”

The other bidders are Budapest, Hungary; Los Angeles; and Rome.  The International Olympic Committee will elect a winner September 13, 2017.
