Entries are now open for the 2016 African Blogger Awards

The African Blogger Awards have officially opened entries for their awards for 2016. All bloggers, Instagrammers, Tweeters, Facebookers and YouTubers who are permanent residents of any African country are eligible to enter the awards.

Using analytics, five overall awards for Africa’s Top Blogger, Instagrammer, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook influencers will be awarded to entrants with the strongest quality and reach on their social media accounts. The Webfluential platform will be used to determine the winners – eliminating the need for entrants to request votes from their audiences. The Awards include 18 other categories which include Finance, Lifestyle, Music, Sports and Photography among many others.

“With Google and Facebook focusing on internet connectivity for remote parts of the world with their Project Loon and Facebook.org initiatives, The African Blogger Awards seeks to highlight the continent’s best conversation leaders and digital talent to then acknowledge and share their work with a global audience.” says Murray Legg, co-founder of the African Blogger Awards.

There is no cost to enter, but entrants are required to register their blog, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook page or YouTube profile (or a combination of these properties) on Webfluential. This platform scientifically measures the reach, resonance and relevance of social influencers on these platforms with over 1000 active, legitimate followers.

Evaluation of each entrant will be managed primarily through Webfluential on the following metrics:

  • Reach measures the size of an influencer's audience (following) per social media network;
  • Resonance is a measure of how widely the content that an influencer shares reaches outside of their own community; and
  • Relevance is a measure of the response from the influencer's community in the form of likes, comments, retweets.

Results will be announced 3 June 2016 via the competition’s Twitter handle, @African_Blogger, from 11h00 GMT+2. Winners in each category will receive a customised African Blogger Award website banner that can be personally leveraged by each winner, and a commemorative trophy.
