Black Friday: Behind the scenes of Jumia's "Mad Friday"

Jumia Côte d’Ivoire prepares one of the biggest e-commerce event of the year: the "Mad Friday"; 24 hours of impressive promotions and offers on its entire assortment.

The "Mad Friday" is the concept Jumia created, to replicate the American concept of Black Friday. So, on the very same November 27th as in the US, an avalanche of discounts up to 55%, will sweep both on Jumia’s website and mobile application.

Born in the United States and popularized across other English countries, Black Friday rhymes with huge discounts, and millions of frenzied people storming shopping centers and e-commerce websites. It traditionally marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the US, the day after Thanksgiving. Last year, 370 million consumers around the world have spent more than $ 70 billion on Black Friday.

With the "Mad Friday" Jumia creates the Ivorian Black Friday. The online mall promises a flood of exclusive deals on its website and mobile application, in tight collaboration with its partners MTN, Binatone, Mediatek, Infinix, Innjoo and all its suppliers. On Friday, November 27, hundreds of exclusive promotions on fashion, electronics, home appliances and price deducted up to 55% will allow Ivorians to experience the madness of that day. "Jumia’s "Mad Friday” is an event that happens once in a year with unbeatable bargains on phones, electronics, home appliances and fashion products” said Francis Dufay, Managing Director of Jumia Côte d’Ivoire.

To ensure the success of this second Black Friday made in Côte d'Ivoire, Jumia started since August, to work out the best offers and most competitive prices. Everything is finely orchestrated to create a unique and memorable experience for e-shoppers. Attentive to the smallest details, and thanks to the recent revamp of the website and the mobile application, the customer experience will be livelier. The delivery force, customer service and after sales service are also making final adjustments to deal effectively with the expected peaks of orders. Last year, the combined sales of Jumia in Africa were multiplied by 10 during Black Friday.

In a sensitive economic context, the "Mad Friday" of Jumia is the ideal solution to prepare for Christmas, to renew a wardrobe or simply to have a fun shopping experience at the best possible prices.
