AAAN, APCON Strengthen Ties To Boost Industry’s Gains

As part of efforts to deepen its relevance in the Nigerian advertising climate, the new President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Kelechi Nwosu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).

Nwosu led a delegation of his executive to APCON house, National Theatre Iganmu, Lagos, to strengthen ties with the apex body of advertising in Nigeria, in a strategic bid to sell its ideas to APCON.

Speaking during the visit, the President of AAAN expressed their desire to raise AAAN’s profile to be one of the foremost trade groups in the creative communication industry.

“Nollywood is seen as the only creative industry; they forget that everything we do as advertising people is creativity. Communication is only a part of the creative effort. We know that we cannot do that without the support of APCON. Government should also realise that the reform is to their advantage in terms of taxes, revenues and employment. We need to see the industry data base and see how we can build it strongly,’’ Nwosu said.

He also stated that the association was willing to collaborate with APCON to build an industry data base.
