Sony's Xperia Tablet Z Berth in SA

Sony Mobile has unveiled its new tablet in South Africa as the company moves to capitalise on the hype of the Xperia Z smartphone.

Though, Sony wants users to focus on the user experience rather than the hardware specifications of the Tablet Z. Sony announced that it supports open standards with the tablet which now has a standard micro-SD card slot and has expanded the functionality of the tablet to use it as a TV remote.

The smartphone is available at the store of mobile operators MTN and Vodacom while it is expected to be in Cell C stores by the end of April.

The Xperia Tablet Z has a 25.6cm display and is powered by a 1.5Ghz quad core processor that puts it near the top in terms of mobile device performance.

"The unit is designed to entertain," Andrew Fraser, Channel Marketing Manager for Sony Mobile South Africa told News24 at the local launch.
